Bill Diez

Bill, a southern California native, now lives in Bullhead City, AZ on the shores of the Colorado River. Bill has been involved in boats his entire life. His interest in boat racing started at an early age as a spectator, going to the races with his Dad. In 1993, when Bill heard that Top Fuel Hydro legend Ron Braaksma was looking for a crew member, Bill jumped at the opportunity to work on the world famous "MADNESS" Top Fuel Hydro. In 1995 Ron was the crew chief of Don Cox's Notorious Blown Gas Hydro, and Bill was there to help win the 1995 NJBA Blown Gas Hydro High Points Championship. In 1996 Bill joined Andy De Ment's "Red Alert" Blown Gas Flat. In 1997 "Red Alert" made the move up  to Top Alcohol Flat and Bill moved up to the crew chief position. In 1998 Andy, Bill and the "Red Alert" team won IHBA TAF High Points Runner-Up.

In 1999 Bill was offer the driving duties in the "First Offense" Blown Gas Flat. In his first year driving, he attended six races, went to five final rounds and took home four 1st place trophies and was NJBA High Points Runner Up in the 10-second class.

Bill took some time off from driving in 2000/2001 to build his own boat. While still working on the "Red Alert" team, Andy convinced Bill to build an alcohol engine for his boat. Bill built the engine and fabricated almost every part for the boat himself. At the end of the 2001 season, The Ace of Spades team was off to their first race. Bill got his IHBA competition drivers license at his first IHBA event. The 2002 season proved to be very successful, winning the NJBA Top Alcohol Flat High Points Runner-Up.

2004 Bill earned his Top Alcohol Flat capsule license and raced the 2nd half of the NJBA season in the "All Lit Up" capsuled flat owned by Ken Simonds. The team took the NJBA Top Alcohol Flat Championship that year.

2005 Bill was back racing the "Ace of Spades" and earned the Top Alcohol Flat High Points Runner=-Up for the season.

2006 Bill was brought on to drive Gene Hackett's "Aluminum Tank and Tank Accessories Special" Top Alcohol Flat, and raced the IHBA circuit on a limited schedule. He also continued to race "Ace of Spades, winning the NJBA Top Alcohol Flat Championship in 2007

After an unfortunate crash in 2009, Bill started to build a new "Ace Of Spades" Mako capsule boat, and devoted time to helping other racers, building customer's boats, engines, and working with Ron Braaksma at RB Props. Bill could always be found at the races representing RB Props and helping racers in any class.

In 2015 Nancy Davis offered Bill the driving duties on the "War Party" Top Alcohol Flat. Nancy and Jerry Davis campaigned the "War Party" Top Alcohol Flat for many years and secured several national championships before Jerry's untimely passing from cancer. Jerry was a highly regarded driver, and well respected racer and ambassador of the sport of drag boat racing. Bill has big shoes to fill, but up to the task. Not only does Bill drive the boat, he is the team engine builder, and co tuner, along with Nancy. The combination of Bill, Nancy, and an outstanding group of hard working crew members have done well honoring Jerry's legacy.

After picking the boat up from Nancy in Conroe, TX, Bill and the crew prepped the boat and went to Bakersfield, CA to test at an NJBA race, then were off to their first Lucas Oil Drag boat Racing Series national event in San Angelo, TX, where they earned the runner-up spot.

2016 was the "War Party Rides On"  racing team's first go at a Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing national points chase, finishing the 9 race season in an impressive 5th place.

2017  Bill and the team really hit their stride with an incredible 5 out of 7 final round appearances with a 1st place win in San Angelo, and ending the season as the Lucas Oil National Championship Series High Points Runner-Up Chamption.

Bill, Nancy, and the team are excited to see what 2018 has in store!!!
